Corrections for CA 1 component 3- Argumentative
“In the 21st century, gender inequality is still prevalent in the world”. Do you agree with this statement?
I agree with this statement because although it is more modern now, and people’s development and mindset has changed over the years, gender inequality or prejudice is still occurring in parts of the world.
Point1: Both genders always thought that genders of their opposite sex do not have power to do anything.
We can see that males are sole-breadwinners of a family, as females will be staying in the house to look after the family. Males will always think that females are weak as they do not have to serve National Service, or tough jobs, they simply lead their lives with their husbands supporting them. However, Julia Gillard, the first female prime minister in Australia, proves that females also have power, not physically, but the rights to do something. There is a good phrase that goes “there’s always a woman behind every successful man,’’ which is true to a large extent. If not for the females that gives the males courage, hope and willpower, they may not have the power and strength to stand up on their feet after a fall. So it is not true that both sexes do not have the power to do anything, and that both genders are born equally.
Point2: Parents will think that girls are not much of a use to the family.
In this modern century now, although the idea of “girls are useless” should be abolished, there is still parents thinking that girls are useless as they will be married and sent away to their husband’s home, without carrying their families surname on to the next generation. Also, some parents in India send their daughters away as they are useless to the family, and India being a poor country, parents would rather keep the males as they can carry the family tradition to the next generation, but the girls do not. Parents in Indonesia also feel that it is okay for their daughters not to study so much or even if their study is bad because they can learn some handwork and also make a living for themselves in the future. There is always this idea that girls are useless because they are girly and do not go through much hardships as compared to the males, so a girl can give other s an idea that they are frail, fragile and weak, thus leading to a thought in most parents that girls are useless.
Point3: Husbands can control their wives, showing an inequality in both sexes.
It has been proved that husbands in Egypt can forbid and prevent their wives from leaving the country for any reason. In the Middle East, wives must have their husband’s written permission and signature before leaving the country. In Saudi Arabia and UAE, married women must have their closest male relative or husband’s hand-written and signed permission to leave the country or even worse still, going on any public transport for a long travel or distance. In Bahrain, where family law is not codified, judges have complete power to deny women custody of their children for the most arbitrary reasons. Bahraini women who have been courageous enough to expose and challenge these violations in law were sued for slander by eleven family court judges. All these evidences prove that the males are thus stronger in choice decision and rights for do’s and don’ts and that female have lesser rights to do anything about these situations, also showing that the government is biased to the males in their country.

Is it a good idea to use avatars to replace humans as teachers in schools?

I prefer to have avatars to teach students in school, thus replacing teachers.

Given us living in 21st century world, technology is definitely improved as compared to the past few decades. Having a robot or rather an avatar to teach in school is a new experience.

Although hiring a robot to teach is not cheap, we must also give it a try to upgrade this modern world. Students in South Korea are already testing out robot teachers to teach English in schools. Having a robot teacher can let the students learn better as robots are not humans, a student in south Korea said that having a robot teacher makes him less nervous while talking to it, or answering questions. This can not only improve students confidence, but also learn better. The students can also participate more actively in class as the robot will use pre-programmed software to sing songs and play alphabet games with the children, as some teachers are fierce and does not express much feelings, students may not dare to ask them questions, but having a robot teacher makes life easier.

Although it is relatively good idea to hire robots, but the cost of hiring or buying a robot will be very expensive, poorer countries may not be able to afford. Moreover, if a teacher is old, the school can choose to let them retire and find another teacher, but if a robot avatar teacher malfunctioned, the school will need to spend lots of money again to repair it.

In conclusion, I will still prefer robot avatar teachers to take over human teachers as the education of the students is the most important.
